  1. My manager wants to set up a standard on set up. She wants to standardize instrument tips facing away from scrubs. I’m wondering how many hospitals have this on their policy?

    1. Instrument tips always point away from the Scrubs and surgical assistant to avoid prick/trauma due to sharp surgical instruments. All the hospitals try to avoid the infection and trauma to the healthcare professional in first preference.
Trauma from used surgical instrument can get infection of the patient.
Policy maker try to enhance quality of sterile service with safety care.
Every hospitals have their own policies but almost similar.

  2. I’m currently a student in a surgical technology program and frequently hear from my teachers that the job requires some pretty tough skin when it comes to being yelled at. They make it seem like every day in the OR is just a flurry of insults and screaming matches. Is this true in anyone else’s experience? Of course I do expect some high tension situations, but don’t want it to feel like that every day.

  3. I graduated for my surgical tech and gained certification in 2010. I let the certification lapse and have never worked as a surg tech. Anyone know what steps I could do to re-train?
